Marquette Adds To 2012 With Steve Taylor
August 7, 2011
Multiple sources are reporting that Marquette has landed its third pledge of the 2013 recruiting cycle, 6′-7″ combo forward Steve Taylor of Simeon (IL). With athletic wings Jamal Ferguson and TJ Taylor already in the fray, the Golden Eagles have three dandy versatile prospects committed. All three committed players are capable of playing multiple positions in the Big East.
While Taylor may get overshadowed on his grassroots (Mac Irvin Fire) and high school teams by top 2013 prospect Jabari Parker, Taylor is a terrific prospect in his own right. Capable of playing either forward position, Taylor came on strong in July and is considered by Illinois high school basketball experts to be the top 2012 prospect in their state.
Taylor picked Marquette over heavy Big Ten and other high-major interest. They were frequently seen at his games in July, and he was clearly a top target. Taylor doesn’t possess gaudy high school stats, as he played on a loaded state championship team, but is considered a Top 100 prospect. He’s likely to see even more national exposure, as Simeon is expected to be a Top 10 high school team in the country, and will play in several high-profile games.
