Up and Down Week Ends at 11-1 for Marquette from Al Kelly

Marquette finished their last three games before Christmas with a 2-1 record.

Their first loss of the season came one day after they moved into the top ten (#10) for the first time in several seasons.
LSU defeated Marquette 67-59 on their home court in the Pete Maravich Center in Baton Rouge, LA. MU led 54-53 with about 3 minutes left but couldn't finish off the Tigers as several MU turnovers turned into LSU 3-point baskets. The Tigers sealed their win at the free throw line as Marquette tried to maintain their undefeated status by using the old chase and foul strategy.

Buzz's boys did complete a sweep of Division 1 in-state opponents by defeating UW Milwaukee 64-50. This victory was the thirty-ninth consecutive win for MU in the thirty nine game series. Only Syracuse has a longer winning streak (45 vs Colgate) against one opponent. Poor shooting by Milwaukee as they are now known led to the final margin in a game which could have been much closer.

Marquette began the three games in six days stretch with an easy 93-72 win over a young rebuilding Northern Colorado squad who had won their conference, the Big Sky, and an NCAA tournament berth last year.

Vanderbilt who defeated MU by two points in Nashville last year comes to the Bradley Center for the last nonconference game of this season on Thursday night. Big East play starts on New Year's Day with a contest against Villanova here in Milwaukee.

Watch the video below for MU's version of the "12 Days of Christmas". Singing talent is definitely not required to play basketball.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
