....DJO shoots 7-24, Junior Cadougan 1-8 and Jamil Wilson 1-9? You do it with a guy named Gardner, some very tough defense... once they got that 2-18 stretch out of their system and very nice free throw shooting 16-18. Gets you wondering how good we would be if Otule was playing doesn't it? Maybe a little better but not much.
If Otule was still playing Gardner would be getting slivers from sitting on the bench. On the other hand, a little better for me means we are a Final Four contender so a little is very important. How can we play both of those at the same time the next two years? Was Otule getting hurt the difference between Gardner being not much during his career and being a pillar on the team for three years?
This is not the kind of exciting team I wanted, but whupping Geogetown for a half, coming back against #1 Syracuse and beating Louisville convincingly after the game almost being over in the first five minutes sure gets the heart pumping.
We are now tied for third in the Big East and while it would be nice to be higher it is hard to complain. Now we go to Providence on Saturday, South Florida comes here and then on to Nova before facing a tough Seton Hall team at home. This should point to a 7-2 start going into the Seton Hall game, currently 4-2. If they manage to come into that game 6-3 (meaning they will have had a couple more good wins) we are going to have our hands full. But our schedule is not too bad after that.... @ UCONN @Cincy @ West Virginia and Georgetown at home to end the regular season.
We want more consistency but the sun is shining a little brighter these days.
Joe
Not a 40 min game but getting closer!
